Protect Your Car: Essential Exterior Accessories For All Seasons

Weather-proofing your car is a smart move that ensures longevity and reduces wear and tear. By shielding your vehicle from the elements, you can avoid costly repairs and keep it looking sharp. It’s not just about looks though; it’s about maintaining its value over time.

  • An all-season car cover: is like a reliable shield for your vehicle, protecting it from rain, snow, sun, and dirt. Modern covers come with features like UV protection, water resistance, and breathable fabrics, which help prevent mold and mildew. They’re also super easy to put on and take off, making them a practical choice for anyone looking to preserve the car’s exterior.

  • Windshield shades: are an essential accessory to have if you live in particularly sunny areas. Warm days can become brutal if your car’s interior feels like a sauna. These handy tools reduce the scorching heat inside your vehicle, keep your dashboard from cracking, and protect seats from fading.
  • Window deflectors and rain guards: These nifty add-ons let you crack the windows open slightly without letting the rain pour in. Plus, they cut down on wind noise, making your drive quieter and more comfortable. Perfect for those sudden showers that come out of nowhere!

Beating the Elements: Keeping Your Car’s Surface Pristine

  • High-quality car wax: And sealants come into play. These products add an extra layer over the paint, guarding against the likes of dust, bird droppings, and that unavoidable minor scratch. They’re not just for show—it’s peace of mind knowing your car’s looking good and better defended.
  • Ceramic coatings: Providing a powerful shield that repels water and dirt. This stuff is tough, sticking around much longer than regular wax. It’s a bit of an investment, but imagine driving through mud and rain, with your car’s paint shrugging them off like it’s no big deal.
  • Mud flaps and splash guards: They sit behind the tires, saving your car’s bodywork from gritty splashes and debris. Practical and easy to install, they also keep you from constantly cleaning off mud streaks.
  • Professional detailing: And treatments might seem like a luxury, but they help keep your car in show-worthy condition. If DIY is more your style, there are plenty of kits available to buff up your car’s shine. Either way, a little regular attention can make a big difference over time.

Shielding Against Road Hazards and Everyday Wear

  • Protective bras and hood shields: are the unsung heroes of road trips and daily commutes. These accessories guard against the ever-annoying stone chips and bugs that can damage your car’s front. Installing them is usually straightforward, and the peace of mind they offer is worth their weight in gold.
  • Door edge guards: seem like a minor detail, but they can save you from a world of hurt. Picture those tight parking spaces where even the slightest bump can chip paint. Door guards absorb these impacts, keeping edges clean and preventing rust from starting where it shouldn’t.
  • Clear headlight covers: maintain your lights’ shine, ensuring your night-time visibility is spot on. They fend off the dust, UV rays, and those tiny pebbles that can cause clouding over time. Crisp, clear lights aren’t just about aesthetics—they’re a must for safe night-time driving.
  • Wheel guards: offer a practical defense against curb rash and road grime buildup. These specially designed shields keep your rims looking fresh and help avoid costly refurbishments. With styles and options galore, they can even add a bit of flair to your ride.

Accessories for Seasonal Adaptation

  • Tire covers: Especially for those who like to swap out for summer or winter tires, are a game changer. They protect your spare sets from aging due to dirt, grime, and UV exposure when they’re not in action.
  • Snow brushes and ice scrapers: are absolute essentials when temperatures drop. They make it easier to clear your car’s windows and mirrors, ensuring a clear field of vision, which is crucial for safe driving in those chilly months.
  • All-weather floor mats: might seem like an interior detail in an exterior-focused article, but they really keep your car’s interior immune to muddy or snowy footprints. Easy to clean and durable, they’re great investment for anyone who faces unpredictable weather changes.
  • Swappable rooftop cargo: Whether you’re hitting the slopes in winter or hauling camping gear in the summer, versatile cargo boxes and racks allow you to adapt to any season’s adventures without compromising your car’s aerodynamics.

  1. Hello,

I had no idea you could get all weather floor mats.  As owners of classic vehicles we spend a lot of time ensuring the cars are clean and protected.

The biggest issue we have is in the winter the cars are garaged but we have a problem with mice.  Last year they ate through all the wires on a Rolls Royce (Obviously mice with expensive tastes!)  Do you have any advice or suggestions to stop the mice feeding on the cars.

    Thanks

    • Hello Jackie,

Thank you for your comment! It’s great to hear that you’re interested in all-weather floor mats for classic vehicles. They really do make a difference in protecting the interior.

As for the mice problem—those little critters can be quite the challenge, especially when they have a taste for luxury! Here are a few suggestions to help keep them away from your cars:

Seal entry points: Ensure that your garage is well-sealed. Mice can squeeze through very small openings, so check for any gaps and seal them with steel wool or caulk.

Use deterrents: There are various natural deterrents that can help keep mice at bay. Peppermint oil, for example, is a popular choice. Soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and place them around the garage. Mice dislike the strong scent and tend to stay away.

Set traps: Traditional mouse traps can be effective in reducing the mouse population in your garage. Just be sure to check and reset them regularly.

Electronic repellents: Ultrasonic devices emit high-frequency sounds that are unpleasant for mice but inaudible to humans. These can be a good option for keeping mice out of the garage.

Storage solutions: If possible, store the cars on elevated platforms or use car covers that are less appealing for mice to nest in.

I hope these tips help! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

      Best,
